Mentors

Three young children sit at a yellow table in a cafeteria, with one girl in the foreground stirring her yogurt and two boys in the background looking away.

Be the Steady Presence That Changes a Life

Every child deserves someone who sees them.
Who listens.
Who encourages.
Who believes in them — even on hard days.

As a Student Mentor, you become that person.

You’re not just helping with schoolwork.
You’re helping shape confidence, resilience, and hope.

What is a Student Mentor?

A Student Mentor is a consistent, caring adult who meets regularly with a student to provide:

  • Encouragement and emotional support
  • Positive role modeling
  • Goal-setting guidance
  • A safe space to talk
  • Help building confidence and life skills

For some students, having one reliable adult who shows up just for them can make all the difference.

A Commitment That Matters

Consistency is key in mentoring.

  • Meet with your student once a week
  • Sessions typically last 20-30 minutes
  • Commit for a semester or school year
  • Guidance provided

When you show up regularly, you become a steady anchor in a child’s life.

The Impact of One Caring Adult

Research shows that students with mentors are more likely to:

  • Graduate from high school
  • Develop positive peer relationships
  • Avoid risky behaviors
  • Set and achieve personal goals

But beyond statistics, mentorship creates something powerful:

Belonging.

And every child deserves to feel they belong.
