Student Success Buddies

One Caring Adult. One Student. Lifelong Impact.

Not every child needs more instruction.
Sometimes, they just need more time.
More encouragement.
More one-on-one attention.

As a Student Success Buddy, you can be the difference.

What Is a Student Success Buddy?

A Student Success Buddy works one-on-one with a student who needs extra practice in key skills such as:

  • Reading fluency & comprehension
  • Letter sounds & phonics
  • Sight words & vocabulary
  • Math facts & number sense
  • Sportsmanship

You won’t replace the teacher — you’ll reinforce what’s already being taught, giving students the repetition and support they need to succeed.

Why It Matters

In a busy classroom, teachers work tirelessly to meet the needs of every student. But extra practice time is limited.

When students fall behind in foundational skills like reading or math facts, it can affect their confidence and future learning.

As a Student Success Buddy, you help:

  • Build strong academic foundations
  • Increase student confidence
  • Reduce frustration and anxiety
  • Create positive associations with learning
  • Show students that someone believes in them

On the playground, students want to play organized sports—but they're learning there, too.

As a volunteer, you help:

  • Build teamwork and cooperation
  • Develop good sportsmanship
  • Encourage kindness and inclusion
  • Strengthen communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Create a positive and welcoming playground for every student
  • Show students that respect matters as much as winning

Flexible Commitment

  • Sessions are typically 20–30 minutes
  • You can volunteer once a week or more
  • Days and times are coordinated to meet student needs
  • Materials are provided

Even one consistent session per week can make measurable progress.
